I know many probably clicked on the link just because of the title. You wanted to see what kind of advice I’m going to give out with this title. I’m not giving out any advice today, just a suggestion to something that has been working for me.
Many of us have our good days, our bad days, our happy days, our sad days, our lonely days, our loved days. Regardless of who actually wants to admit it, everyone has felt all of these days at some point in their life.
I will admit, I have those sad and lonely days that as I lay my head down, tears start to roll onto my pillow. Now, I know I may be more emotional than others, but even if you don’t shed tears on your pillow, you still have gone to sleep lonely or sad at some point.
When we are in this state of mind, we open ourselves to vulnerability, and anything can happen. Some may call a booty call to come over, some may drink their sorrows to bed, some may hurt themselves to relieve the pain, but one night, I took a different approach.
I was feeling discouraged, lonely, and sad about some things in my life. I started to cry as I was talking to God. I was asking Him questions, why certain things are the way they are. Now, I had a choice to make, I could’ve easily fallen into the trap of any of the previous actions I listed before, but instead, guess what I did?
I asked Jesus to come and sleep with me. I even took it a step further and asked him to wrap his arms around me.
I closed my eyes and went straight to sleep. All of my sadness, loneliness, discouragement, was lifted. Peace came over me and I slept like a baby that night. If you follow me, you know that I have trouble sleeping. But, that night I was out and didn’t wake up until my alarm went off for work the next day.
I slept so good, that I have continued to ask Jesus to come and sleep with me. I encourage you, the next time you are feeling down “just ask him to sleep with you!” Watch Him come and invade your space.
I know you may be thinking that’s stupid, but it doesn’t hurt you to try. What do you have to lose? Sleep? You’re already losing it by all the negative emotions that are running through your mind. So, give it a shot!
Matthew 11:28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Jeremiah 31:25 “For I have given rest to the weary and joy to the sorrowing.”
Amen! I am definitely going to try this approach =)
