The Lord has really been dealing with me about the people in my circle. I’m the type of person who has a hard time letting go of people whether it’s my decision or their decision to leave. For some people, it’s easy to cut people off. They delete their number, ignore them, and never turn back. Well, that’s not me!
In fact, I’m the total opposite. If someone decides to leave my life, I want to know all the details and see if there is any chance of reconciliation and most times if the person feels offended by something I did, I want to make it right.
Unfortunately, some people don’t operate like I do and will cut you off without a trace. In these cases, you are forced to deal with the situation at hand and learn to move on from it.
A very tragic event happened in my life a few weeks ago where I went missing for about 10hrs, and then I was rescued. Honestly, I didn’t know if I was going to see another day.
Once getting rescued, I received tons of texts, voicemails, and alerts from those close to me looking for me. I had a team of close friend’s, drive two hours away which was my last known whereabouts to look for me in the middle of the night. They searched for hours and hours. I even had people in different states trying to find me.
Ask yourself, will those close to you go the extra mile for you if you needed them to? Those friends who call themselves your brothers/sisters, besties, etc. will they make sure you’re still alive? Having a rifle pointed at you less than a foot away, is pretty scary! This tragic event made me re-evaluate those in my life and those I was still feeling hurt by leaving my life.
Know that whatever reason those people decided to leave your life was all part of God’s plan. You may not see it now, but you will when you get down the road. You will look back and see why things had to happen the way they did.
I now look at people in my life through a new lens. Even when the Las Vegas shooting happened, I had people reaching out to me to make sure that my family, friends, and I were okay. This just added to what the Lord was trying to teach me.
One morning as I was in prayer about my whole situation, The Lord dropped in my spirit the story of the four men who helped their paralytic friend receive his healing by taking the roof off of a home and lowering him in. The friends couldn’t get their paralytic friend thru the front door since it was surrounded by people trying to get to Jesus. They knew that if they could somehow get this man to Jesus, he would receive his healing.
This week’s blog is all about focusing on the friends who will go above and beyond for you. These friends went the extra mile for their friend. My friends went the extra mile to try and find me. Don’t lose focus on how amazing you are!
If you reach out to people and they don’t respond back, let them go. Maybe God is trying to do something new in your life. You are too dope to chase those who do not want to be in your life. All that does is make more room for those who do want to be in your life.
God will strategically remove and replace people in your life to make sure His plan will be carried out. It’s up to you to release and welcome or hold on and ignore. Your greatest blessing can come from one decision to let go. Ask God to give you the strength to let go and the peace to move on.
Choose your friends wisely; your destiny depends on it.
Psalm 29:11 – “The LORD will give strength to His people; The LORD will bless His people with peace.”
The story I referenced you will find in Mark 2:1-12
