The last few months of this year have definitely been a roller coaster of a ride. When the Lord started dealing with me about moving to Memphis, TN, I knew I would have to take a demotion from my job. It was a blessing that I was able to transfer, even if it meant me taking a demotion in management, as well as in salary.
At first, it bothered me, but I held onto my faith, and trust in the Lord, that I heard him correctly about moving to Memphis, TN. Therefore, if I heard him correctly, He would take care of all my needs and wants even in my decrease.
Fast forward to about a month ago; the Lord told me “He was going to bless me with double since I took a demotion in His name.” I held onto that word and just prayed on it. The following week my Pastor was preaching on promotions and blessings, and at one point in the service he said: “if you are going to be interviewing for a position before the year is out, raise your hand, and let me pray for you.” I raised both of my hands because I wasn’t going to miss this blessing!
A position came out at work, and I put in for it. If I got this position, that means it would jump me up two positions in management as well as an increase of salary by “minimum” of forty percent of what I was making. I didn’t know this at first until I started to prepare for my final interview.
It brought tears to my eyes, because if I did get the position that means it was going to be “double for my trouble,” and it would confirm the word the Lord gave me about blessing me with double. I started to get excited, but most importantly, I followed the peace I had when asking the Lord if this was the right position for me.
Last week I find out my final interview was going to be Thursday and I knew I had to sow a seed for this position on Wednesday at Bible Study. Thursday gets here, I go for my interview, and I get the position!!!
Now, I wasn’t the only person who put in for this position, there were a few others, and I’ll be writing another post about how I made myself stand out from the other applicants. So, stay tuned for that.
I say all of this to encourage you, that if you follow the leading of the Lord, even if it means taking a “demotion,” which is a reduction of rank or status, everything will work itself out. Now, your demotion may not be, a job, it may be a demotion of friends, but whatever demotion you take in the name of the Lord, know that God will bless you for being obedient to Him and trusting that He is going to take care of all your needs!
I know it’s harder to trust when you don’t see how it’s going to work out but trust me; God always has a way of working things out in His favor. Sometimes you have to take a step back so that you can be catapulted forward. Don’t stay stuck in the demotion, start praying for your promotion! When God is ready to promote you, no one can change that.
The best part of all of this was that I was able to talk freely about my faith and they knew how strongly I believed and trusted in the Lord. Know that you don’t have to waiver in your faith or compromise your faith to get a position. God honors obedience and honor.
Here are a few scriptures to meditate on…
Philippians 4:19 “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; think about Him in all your ways, and He will guide you on the right paths.”
Ecclesiastes 3:1 “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens”
John 12:26 “Whoever serves me must follow me; and where I am, my servant also will be. My Father will honor the one who serves me.”
