People measure their lives and the lives of others by how successful they are or portray themselves to be. I say portray themselves because there are some people who try and keep up with the Jones’ and can’t afford it. They care more about what the outside looks like that what reality looks like.
Do you want to know the secret to success? I can tell you in one word what it is. Can you guess it? Well, if you didn’t guess “consistency” then you got it wrong. Success is measured by your consistency to do something and not give up.
Another misconception of success is that having a lot of money or being a top dog at work characterizes you as being successful. Let me burst some bubbles. Success is not measured by these things. Although some people may be successful in these areas, that doesn’t mean you can’t be successful in other areas.
One’s level of success is measured by the success you set for yourself and who God has created you to be. God may not have called you to corporate America or to work at the NY stock exchange. Maybe He called you to be a housewife, or a janitor, or someone who works at a fast food chain. Either way, your success is not measured by your place of employment.
Your success is first measured by God. Second, it’s measured by the level you set for yourself. Thirdly, its measured by being consistent.
Success is measured by setting goals, not giving up, and pursuing that thing that God has called you to be!
Maybe, no one from your family graduated from high school and you were the first to graduate and get a diploma. Guess what? That’s a level of success. Maybe, you’re a stay at home parent. Guess what? That is a success, many can’t handle the pressure’s to be a stay at home parent or it’s something they can’t afford.
Don’t compare your level of success to the next person, because that person’s success isn’t your success. The only thing you are responsible for is to stay consistent in the thing that God has called you to do. And, when you do, watch favor reign in your life.
Favor doesn’t always mean money. It can be God’s favor of peace, joy, opportunities, free of conflict, etc. When you are doing what God has called you to do, you are walking out that thing that He created you to do and be.
I’m successful, not because I make a lot of money, or hold an important title at work. I’m successful because I haven’t given up on who God created me to be! I have been consistent in the things that He has set before me. Have I faced hard times and failed? Of course, I have! But, not one person of success will tell you that they never hit hard times or they never went through tough battles. They will say that they continued to be consistent in that thing that they believed in.
So, let this new year, be the year that you don’t compare your success to others because you weren’t created for their success. You were created for your own success!
Let this week’s blog, give you encouragement that your success is created and formed by who God created you to be and not what man says you should be. Be consistent in all of your ways and success will follow!
absolutely love this!
Too many times and still continuing, I find myself comparing my journey to others, that ends in envy a lot. I always have to remind myself everyone has their own journey. What society views as “success” really messed me up and made me always feel like I was failing. Success to me is nothing to do with money and I am finally being okay with not fitting society standards, but stepping into the power/vision/calling God has given me!!!
