The word “peace” has really been in my spirit for the past few weeks. The Bible has a lot of great scriptures about peace. In fact, they say the word “peace” is used 429 times in the King James Version of The Bible. As many times as it’s used, this should be a sign to us. I’ll share a few scriptures that I’ve been meditating on, but first a story…
My engagement through to my wedding happened pretty quickly. It was about a month apart. People kept asking me, are you okay? Are you sure this is what you want? How do you feel? Are you nervous? And the list goes on.
I felt my response was always the same. I would tell them “I’m not nervous at all, I’m at peace!”
It made me think, is this normal? How come I’m not nervous? Am I supposed to feel this way? I would ask my friends or married couples, how did you feel? Were you nervous? It felt odd to me, that I didn’t have any doubts, I was at complete peace with the journey we were on and the journey we were about to embark on.
After we got our marriage certificate and left the courthouse, I remember sitting in the car, looking out the window thinking, why am I at complete peace about this? My eyes started to tear up because I was in awe of God. I thanked Him for all the “peace” He was giving me. My husband asked me, are you okay? You feeling okay? I know he might’ve thought I was having second thoughts, but I really was just having a moment with God.
I say all of that to say… Follow peace!
Whatever you do, whatever you’re thinking about, whatever situation is at hand, make sure you follow peace!
God is not a God of confusion or chaos. He is a God of peace. The devil will come in and try to get you off track, make you double guess yourself, but always revert back to peace. Peace is going to be your travel mate. Use it as your compass in life. It will direct you to the location you need to be at, when you need to be at it, and how you’re supposed to be at it.
It’s easy to give into dysfunction, matter of fact, sometimes its easier to just roll with the waves. But, let me tell you, don’t let the waves get you off track, let the waves push you towards the shores you were meant to be on.
In your seasons of life, never forget to follow peace!
Here are a few of the scriptures…
